Volunteer/Mentor Information

  • MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN THE LIFE OF A CHILD

Volunteers are a highly respected group and greatly appreciated as part of the GISD educational team. Thank you for offering a child the gift of your time. Serving as a volunteer is a personal commitment that provides children with opportunities such as, a mentor to meet the needs of a missing adult role model of responsible citizenship, a tutor to promote achievement and a friend to just hear their words. Volunteers also serve teachers in many ways, such as providing for help with classroom copies, individual student book making, reading practice, party planning and recess coverage. We even have Master Gardeners’ that plant crops with students. There is no end to what we can do!
Adequate adult role models assist children in becoming responsible adults themselves. Research supports the fact that young learners are more likely to succeed and overcome adversity when positive role models are a consistent part of their lives. With your help, our students will succeed in school, and become community leaders.

Whether you are a parent, grandparent, business representative, or community member, your participation in volunteering will be a reward! We commend you for your part in education! Spend your free time with our greatest asset, our children!
